WRIGHTSVILLE, Ga. — Johnson County's school superintendent says local law enforcement is investigating a reported fight among parents and at least one coach at a middle-school girls' basketball game.
Supt. Eddie Morris says it happened Thursday during a game between Johnson County and Wilkinson County's middle school teams.
Wilkinson County led most of the way, but Johnson won on a final shot, he said. That's when things turned emotional.
"Some adults started arguing and my administrative staff had to step in and settle it down," he said.
Nobody was arrested, and nobody was injured, said Morris, who was not at the game.
He also says no children were hit.
Morris says three or four adults were involved in the dispute -- primarily a Johnson County parent and a Wilkinson County coach, both women.
The middle-school boys' game, scheduled to begin after the girls' game, was canceled, he said.
Johnson County Sheriff Rusty Oxford said Friday morning that the district's school-resource officer had not filed a report on the case and he had no further information.
