HOUSTON COUNTY, Ga. — One woman is dead and two are injured after a wreck on Highway 247 in Houston County on Tuesday.

The Georgia Department of Transportation says the accident happened in the northbound lanes before Bear Branch Road.

Trooper Jazzaman Burgess with Georgia State Patrol says around 10:30 p.m., a woman was traveling southbound in a silver Pontiac, while two people were traveling northbound in a black Dodge Avenger.

Burgess says the Pontiac crossed the center line and hit the Avenger head-on. Houston County Coroner Danny Galpin says 26-year-old Parrisha Moore, who was in the Pontiac, died on scene.

The two people in the Avenger were treated for minor injuries at the Medical Center, Navicent Health.

A GDOT tweet says all lanes were blocked off after the accident, and it took around two hours to clear.
