Some community members whipped up a little "southern hospitality" and handed out free BBQ plates to travelers on I-75 when the storm hit in September 2017.
What began as a small operation, grew into a long assembly line of neighbors, working in tandem to provide hot meals for Irma evacuees.
"It was a spur of the moment thing, the community got together," said one volunteer.
In less than 30 minutes, the group stuffed nearly 300 boxed meals, complete with pulled pork, baked beans, and mac and cheese.
They said a lot of food and supplies were donated by local businesses and other Central Georgia residents.
The group piled up the boxes and headed to I-75 to pass out the meals to travelers.
