The Bibb County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating an incident that happened at Heritage Elementary School.

According to Lt. Randy Gonzalez, the Crimes Against Children Division was contacted by DFCS on Nov. 13 about an incident at Heritage Elementary. The incident happened on Nov. 8 involving an educator and a 7-year-old student, Gonzalez said.

The educator allegedly struck the student with an object on the head. The child's mother reported this to the school's administrators and the administrators reported it to the school's social worker, who reported it to the sheriff's office.

According to Bibb schools Superintendent Curtis Jones, the incident took place in a special education classroom. Jones says two educators were in the classroom at the time, they are both on administrative leave.
