Memorial Day weekend's weather may not be ideal, but that's not stopping Bibb County from opening up its pools.
All five county pools will open starting at 10 a.m. and will close at 3 p.m., rain or shine.
We spoke with Bibb County Director of Recreation Robert Walker who says if there is thunder, they will ask everyone to get out of the pool for 30 minutes at a time.
He says people in the community have been waiting for this day, especially the kids.
"All the kids love it -- from the time they jump out of the car, they are running to the fence screaming and yelling, ready to jump in the water. I've seen some even run and jump right off into the water in their pants, so we have to go get them, but they are excited about coming out," Walker says.
Admission to the pools will be $1 with an additional $1 to use the water slide at the Delores A. Brooks Recreation Center.
Pools will be open Tuesday to Friday from 1 p.m. - 7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
