A Bibb County teacher is on leave after a possible incident between a student and a teacher during class.

According to a statement of Bibb Schools spokeswoman Stephanie Hartley, it happened at Ballard-Hudson Middle School in Macon.

She says administrators were notified about the incident on November 17, the day Thanksgiving break began.

She says DFCS and the Bibb County Sheriff's Office are investigating the incident, and so is the district's Human Resources department.

The teacher is currently on paid administrative leave with pay pending the findings of that investigation.

Hartley says that administrators have been in contact with the parents of the student making them aware of the investigation.

Hartley would not release the teacher's name or describe what the possible incident entails.
