A Byron homeowner is looking to catch the person he says he caught on camera stealing items from his garage.

When homeowners leave their homes, they assume they will come back and find it in the same condition, but that was not the case for one Richmond Hills neighborhood homeowner.

"The security that I felt in myself and this place is going. Now, it's hard for me to leave my house because they did it in the middle of the day. I had a vehicle in the driveway and they still took stuff like they were in their own home,” says Sergio Lopez.

He says his Byron home was burglarized Tuesday while his family was out of town. Lopez says he first noticed a generator and a compressor lying outside his garage, so he checked his surveillance cameras.

That is when he saw a man driving up to his home and taking expensive carpentry tools from his garage. The Warner Robins Police Department says those tools were worth a total of about $840.

"There's the power tools, a hammer drill and a compressor. It didn't fit in the trunk so he's going to try to put it in the backseat. He took the framing guns right there. You see he has something else in his mouth, and now he's got the generator,” explains Lopez as he watches the home surveillance video.

Within about five minutes, the burglar was gone, but Lopez says he has been burglarized three times just in the past year. Most of all he says his family's privacy and safety has been compromised.

"The items, I do mind, but not as much as I mind that they broke into my house. I'm taking it personally now,” says Lopez.

The Warner Robins Police Department are investigating. Anyone with information on the case can call Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
