Child dies after drowning in pool in Warner Robins

An officer found the child in the pool, jumped in and began performing CPR

A 4-year-old boy is dead after drowning in a pool in Warner Robins.

According to Warner Robins assistant police chief John Wagner, the child left his home on Woodlawn Avenue Saturday afternoon and walked to a neighbor's house.

Someone reported the child as "missing" and K9 dogs tracked the child's scent to a pool in the neighbor's backyard.

An officer found the child in the pool, jumped in and performed CPR.

The child was taken to Houston Medical center where he was later pronounced dead.

Randall Jones lives down the street and says he was very sad to hear what happened.

“It really hits home. Safety around pools, around water, around kids... you can't stress that enough. It's hard to swallow, it really is,” said Jones.

An investigation into the child’s death is ongoing.
