Couple raises money to open ranch for homeless veterans in Warner Robins

According to Rachel and Rick Kovach, their research found more than 200 homeless people within 100 miles of Robins Air Force Base, and that number made them jump into action.

A Warner Robins couple is wanting to make a difference in their community by opening up a ranch to help house homeless people in the area.

According to Rachel and Rick Kovach, their research found more than 200 homeless people within 100 miles of Robins Air Force Base, and that number made them jump into action.

They will be holding a fundraiser on Saturday to help raise around $3,000 to put towards the land for their R&R Ranch.

Rachel says they'll be able to house 12 people at a time where they will receive therapy and working the ranch to help them back into society, saying this mission means the world to her.

"Us both being veterans, it really hits home. We've had friends that have ended up on the street or committed suicide, we have also lost friends to the war, too, so it's just kinda really hits home for us that they are just kinda out there on their own," she says.

Kovach says the festival fundraiser will take place at the We Care Heating and Air in Warner Robins from 4-8 p.m. on Saturday.

There will be carnival games for the kids, food trucks, and other vendors for the whole family to enjoy.
