Crews battle house fire on Windsor Drive in Warner Robins

A home on 207 Windsor Drive in Warner Robins caught fire just before 7 p.m. Thursday evening.

Crews battled a fire in a Warner Robins neighborhood Thursday evening.

It happened just before 7 p.m. at a home on 207 Windsor Drive, according to Lieutenant Lee Brantley with the Warner Robins Fire Department. Brantley says a grease fire started when resident Charlene Flowers was cooking. As the fire spread to the garage and attic, Flowers, her husband, son, and dog were able to get out and call 911.

Flowers' 22-year-old son, Andrew, says it was his house that caught fire. He says he wasn’t in the home when it started, but most of his family was.

“When I heard screaming combined with crying, I knew something was wrong, and I ran inside the house and it was just engulfed. We were lucky to get out when we did because another minute later, I mean, we -- I wouldn’t be able to stand here with you,” said Andrew.

Andrew says the family does have renter’s insurance that should cover the damages and that he and his mother, father, brother, and pet dachshund Otis will all be staying with family in Warner Robins while they figure out what to do next.

About 20 firefighters responded to the blaze, and it took about an hour and a half to put out. Brantley says the home was about 75 percent damaged.

No one was hurt.
