CUMMING, Ga. - Forsyth County Sheriff's deputies have issued tickets for speeding of up to 111 miles per hour on Georgia 400 in recent weeks, according to the Sheriff.

"Deputies are seeing speeds on Georgia 400 that would make NASCAR blush," Sheriff Ron Freeman said in a Sunday afternoon Facebook post. "Just this past Thursday I stopped an 18 year old driving 103+mph on Georgia 400 south near Pilgrim Mill Road.

"If you see me in a gray pinstripe suit and blue tie stop you for speeding, you've had a bad day."

Freeman said over the past several weeks, deputies have written tickets for drivers who were traveling at speeds of 90, 94, 96, 100, 103 and 111 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone, tickets that are classified as "super speeder" violations.

"I've lost count of those in the mid and upper 80s," Freeman said.

"I'm not big on writing tickets, but your own mom would have told us to give you a ticket at these speeds," Freeman continued, adding his department will be increasing its presence on Georgia 400 and elsewhere "until drivers regain their sanity and construction eases.

"Friday night, I had to stop a grown man for reckless driving. We are better than this."
