The Saturday after Thanksgiving is recognized as small business Saturday, and the Downtown Macon Open Air Market was in full effect.

The market aims to to partner with local vendors that hand-make or home-grow goods that support the Middle Georgia community, according to the event page on Facebook.

The Macon Open Air Market is hosted quarterly, and began a little over a year ago, according to coordinator and co-owner Ryan Smith.

"The Macon Open Air Market for us is all about bringing local good to a Macon audience, and helping small businesses kind of get off their feet," Smith said.

The market had around 50 vendors Saturday, all from the middle Georgia area, with a large variety of products.

The market is at 543 Plum Street in the parking lot across from the Emerson Ball Room.

The Downtown Macon Open Air Market was founded by Ryan Smith and Cesare Mammarella, two Macon entrepreneurs.
