The former head teller and assistant head teller of The People's Bank in Eatonton are accused of embezzling more than $1.6 million from the bank.
A federal grand jury last week indicted Brandy Mize and Vicky Martin on 26 fraud and theft charges each.
The indictment claims that the two women transferred bank funds to themselves or family members, stole money from teller drawers or the vault and issued cashier's checks to themselves.
All this happened over a two-year period, from April 2014 to March 2016, the indictment says.
The two women oversaw counting the cash in the bank vault and oversaw the system that monitored the accuracy of the bank's cash-balance and transaction records.
The pair told bank managers that there was more than $1.3 million in the vault, where there was only about $68,000, the indictment says.
According to the indictment, Mize used money to pay rent on her house and to help several others buy houses and a kitchen trailer.
Mize also allegedly used the money to buy a BMW auto, a motorcycle and a drone and to pay for trips to Biloxi, Mississippi and Las Vegas.
Both women pleaded not guilty last Friday in U.S. District Court in Macon and both were released on $10,000 bond.
