COCHRAN, Ga. — Cochan's police chief says the GBI is helping to investigate an allegation against a city public works employee.

By email, Chief Christopher Coley would not describe the complaint, but said the investigation began early last week.

He said the employee remains on the job and no one has been charged.

According to his news release, it's standard protocol to ask for the GBI's assistance when an investigation involves a city employee.

Lindsey Wilkes, special agent in charge of the GBI's Eastman office, also declined further comment.

City manager Richard Newbern did not return our phone calls.
