Georgia Power restores power to Central Georgia customers

Georgia Power says they've restored power to their Central Georgia customers after Michael, but some areas of Georgia are still waiting

As of 9 a.m. Sunday, Georgia Power says they've restored power to their customers in the Macon and Central Georgia area.

In all, the company says they've restored power to 365,000 customers following the aftermath of Michael, but they still have about 25,000 to go.

According to a press release, customers in the Americus, Columbus, west Georgia, Augusta, Savannah and coastal areas have had their power restored.

Customers in the Tifton, Albany and Bainbridge areas are expected to have their power back early this week:

  • Tifton area by Sunday, Oct. 14 by 10 p.m.
  • Albany area by Monday, Oct. 15 by 8 p.m.
  • Bainbridge area by Tuesday, Oct. 16 by 8 p.m.

The company also says they have more than 5,700 employees working around the clock to restore power to those remaining 25,000 customers.

Customers can sign up for outage alerts and monitor outages on the Georgia Power website.

To report an outage, customers can call Georgia Power 24 hours a day at 888-891-0938.
