It happened around 3:45 p.m. at the Bill Conn Parkway and Highway 18 East.

Hunnicutt said the teen failed to yield and sideswiped the deputy's cruiser, causing it to hit another car head-on.

In a Facebook post, Sheriff Butch Reece said Warren underwent leg surgery on Monday.

On Tuesday, Hunnicutt said the deputy is now in stable condition.

"We hear he's doing a lot better," he said.
