Knoxville kicks off 14th Annual Jug Fest

Today, pottery is an art form, and Knoxville invited people to explore their heritage.

When Knoxville, Georgia was chartered back in the 19th century, pottery was a way of life.

And it was this love for mud that sparked the Georgia Jug Festival that's still thriving 14 year later.

Today, pottery is an art form, and Knoxville invited people to explore their heritage.

Vendors showed off their beautiful pottery creations and other crafts.

Patti Temple, the Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce, says there's one event that the community looks forward to every year, and it's not showing off pottery, but racing lawn mowers.

"And these are not ordinary I mean some of these were coolers at one time," she said.

"They'd make these lawn mower race things and they were made out of coolers so it's something to see if you get the chance at 5 they will be watering down the track and revving up the engines and we're gonna go."

There was also horse rides for the kids and a 5K run that took place earlier this morning for the festival.
