Players at the Daisy Park basketball courts near the Medical Center, Navicent Health say Bryant was an inspiration on the court and in the community.
They say he is the reason they are so passionate about basketball today.
"I mean, he is the reason why I play basketball, growing up these are legends you just try to mirror your game after. They just had a big influence on the community. My son, he plays games, and he means a lot to me. It is a touchy subject to talk about," E.J. Rose said.
Adarius Bailey says he's watched Kobe since he was young.
"Cause me, I'm a big basketball fan, so I've watched Kobe growing up as a kid," Bailey said.
