An Eastman family is without a home after lightning struck their house Thursday afternoon.
Susan Joines says she was sitting at her dining room table watching the sky turn dark around 2:45 p.m., then all of sudden, she heard a loud boom.
She says within seconds, her home was in flames.
Joines says she rushed to get her dogs and a few belongings, but wasn't able to save much.
Joines says she's never experienced anything like this before.
"It was a huge bang -- it was louder than any lightning strike I've heard before --I really can't describe that, and it was hard enough that it tilted me sideways in my chair," said Joines.
Joines says that she's staying with a friend for now and her house was covered by insurance.
