Macon Bacon National Anthem contestants step up to the plate

60 people showed up to sing their hearts out in hopes of getting to be one of the lucky few who gets to sing the National Anthem throughout the summer to open the Bacon's games.

The Macon Bacon will be lining up to bat for their inaugural game starting June 1.

60 people showed up to sing their hearts out in hopes of getting to be one of the lucky few who gets to belt the National Anthem throughout the summer to open the Bacon's games on Saturday.

The director of partnership activities, Sara Leo says they can only pick 25 people (one for each game) and says the excitement and interest was overwhelming.

"The national anthem is a huge part of the game and obviously there have been some people who do it really really well and we've seen other options that aren't so great. Hopefully all of these people today will be on the great side and they will have the opportunity to give it their all before a game. I know the National Anthem means a lot to people and with the Macon Bacon being their inaugural season I think that will be a pretty huge opportunity for somebody," she says.

Along with Leo, Ashley and Tony Doolin from 100.9 The Creek helped judge.

Contestants will find out if they are one of the lucky few in a few short weeks.
