Bibb bicyclist in stable condition after being hit by car downtown

40-year-old Cornelle Stephens was hit by a car in downtown Macon just before 8 p.m. Tuesday.

MACON, Ga. — A man is in the hospital after getting hit by a car while riding his bike Tuesday night.

According to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office, 40-year-old Cornelle Stephens was hit in downtown Macon just before 8 p.m.

The news release says Stephens was hit from behind while riding his bike near the Dollar General on Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard. 

The driver of the car said she did not see him until it was too late to avoid hitting him.

Stephens was taken to the Medical Center, Navicent Health where he is listed in stable condition. No one else was hurt.
