A Macon teen is dead and two men are in custody following a shooting in Lizella Wednesday.

It happened around 2 a.m. at a home on Briar Creek Trail, according to Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones. Bibb County deputies arrived at the scene at 3:30 a.m. Jones pronounced the victim dead at 4 a.m.

Deputies say they found Chase Gillis, 16, of Macon at the home near the doorway entrance.

Two men were inside of the home when the victim arrived, according to a Bibb County Sheriff's Office news release. Reportedly, the victim had been in contact with someone at the home. Upon arrival, the victim was shot by one of the two men, who fled from the home and contacted a relative of one of the men.

The relative picked them up on Eisenhower Parkway. The relative then drove to the Sheriff’s Office on Oglethorpe Street to report the incident.

The two men who fled the scene called the Bibb County Sheriff's office and told them what happened, according to Bibb County Sheriff's Lt. Randy Gonzalez. Gonzalez says "some type of transaction" went on inside of the home.

Bibb County deputies are investigating the incident as a homicide.

Both males are being questioned by investigators. They are suspects in this homicide.
