Macon residents flock out to Carolyn Crayton Park to enjoy picnic

With such nice weather lately, the Macon Recreation Department elected to hold a picnic for people of all ages

MACON, Ga. — While summer has come and gone, some Macon residents are hoping to hold on to the summer fun a little longer.

The Macon Recreation Department held a Picnic in the Park event on Saturday to celebrate the wonderful weather Central Georgia has seen as of late.

The weather has stayed around 70 degrees this week as fall brought lovely weather in time for events like the fair and a picnic.

The event, which ran from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., was held at Carolyn Crayton Park on Willie Smokie Glover Drive and featured several events and attractions.

Todd "T-Luv" Davis performed live entertainment for all who attended. Jail Creek Farms brought wine slushes for the adults to enjoy. For the kids, the rec. department brought out bounce houses to enjoy.

Tons of people pulled up with tents, picnic blankets and lawn chairs to simply sit out and enjoy the weather.

"This is the last festival of the season and the weather has been great, so we're really expecting a great time," Recreation Department Director Robert Walker said. "There is something for everyone in the family. This is a great opportunity for our community to come out, get to know your neighbors, and have fun."
