Macon's downtown parking system to start July 1

It will cost you $1.25 for an hour at a downtown meter

If you spend time in downtown Macon, you will probably be paying to park starting on July 1, according to Alex Morrison, the executive director of Macon-Bibb's Urban Development Authority.

This spring, he said new parking meters would arrive in May, but he says the company they've hired to install them has them on back orders.

He says you'll start to see those meters in the next few weeks and the system will start up July 1.

The cost? $1.25/hour at the downtown meters and $1/hour at city parking decks.

Wanya Reese will have more on the downtown parking changes and what they'll mean for you tonight on 13WMAZ News at 5 & 6.
