UPDATE: Suspect arrested after south Bibb credit union robbery

According to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office, deputies arrested 23-year-old Sade Troi Washington

MACON, Ga. — UPDATE, 8:30 p.m.:

The person suspected of robbing the Mid-South Federal Credit Union has been arrested.

According to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office, deputies arrested 23-year-old Sade Troi Washington Tuesday after demanding cash and running away from the credit union.

Moments later, Washington's car was spotted by investigators less than a mile away from the credit union. Washington was stopped by Bibb deputies and taken into custody without incident.

Washington was taken to the Bibb County jail is being held without bond, charged with 3 counts of robbery by intimidation. 

Deputies found that Washington was also responsible for two previous credit union robberies, one at Robins Financial Credit Union located at 4066 Hartley Bridge Road on April 6, and another on May 16, 2019 at the same Mid-South Federal Credit Union he robbed Tuesday.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an armed robbery that happened at Mid South Federal Credit Union Tuesday.

According to a news release, it happened around 10:30 a.m. at the location on Hartley Bridge Road.

It was reported that the masked robber pulled into the drive-thru teller lane and handed the teller a note demanding money.

After getting an undisclosed amount of money, the suspect drove off in a black car with dark tinted windows and no tag towards the direction of Houston Road.

Investigators are following leads and interviewing several ‘persons of interest.’
