New convenience center opens in West Macon

This is the second of five centers that will be placed around the county.

MACON, Ga. — Macon-Bibb County's mayor Lester Miller, commissioners, the Solid Waste Department, and Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful officially opened the second convenience center.

The Solid Waste Department and Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful held an official ribbon cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. on Fulton Mill Road on Thursday.

While this marks the second convenience center to open in Macon-Bibb, there will be more coming soon.

Mayor Miller says they hope to have five centers around the county.

Commissioner Raymond Wilder says District Six is a rural area where folks can safely come out and dispose their trash legally.

"This is just going to make it convenient for everybody to have somewhere to go instead of dumping it anywhere," Wilder said.

The center will be open weekly, Thursday-Sunday, from 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

You must have a valid Bibb-County driver's license to drop off items.
