The outer bands of Alberto have officially arrived across central Georgia. Rain is likely tonight as the outer bands cycle through. By early tomorrow morning some of the tropical downpours could be ramping up in intensity as the northern most outer bands lift out of central Georgia. We are not expecting widespread tornadoes, but from tomorrow morning through Tuesday evening a brief, spin-up tornado can't be ruled out as waves of rain associated with the outer bands of Alberto move through the area. By the late morning tomorrow we should be mostly dry, but for the afternoon and evening the shower and storm activity ramps back up. Showers and storms are likely for Tuesday as well. The moisture trailing behind Alberto lingers in to late week. Rainfall totals between 2 to 3 inches will be widespread with localized areas possibly receiving 4 to 5 inches of rain. This could result in flash flooding and river flooding, especially if storms train over the same areas for an extended period of time. Flooding is the main threat from Alberto. We are not expecting winds to be a big issue, but considering that the ground is already extremely saturated a few trees could be knocked down in some of the heavier tropical downpours. By late week our forecast is trending warmer and drier with highs near 90 by next Sunday.
