'Ride Home' event honors veterans in Central Georgia

Over 200 veterans fired up the engines of their motorcycles in remembrance of their sacrifices.

Veterans started their engines Friday morning for the annual "Ride Home" event.

Over 200 Prisoners of War heroes, Missing in Action, and Gold Star families began their ride in Perry, and ended their ride in Warner Robins at Central Georgia Technical College.

Veterans came on motorcycles of all colors, but most importantly, motorcycles symbolizing all branches of the military.

The ride symbolizes the sacrifices these veterans gave for our country and is a time for the community to come together and recognize their service.

Keith Johanson served in the Navy and is also the Vice President of the South Carolina Rolling Thunder motorcycle group. He says the stories are the best part.

"What I look forward to is having dinner with a Prisoner of War because you get the real story from them, you don't have anything filtered out."

This year's Ride Home event will close with a candlelight service.

Ride Home happens every year and anyone is welcome to attend. For more information on the Ride Home, visit their website.
