Saint Peter AME Church hosts thanksgiving giveaway to help families in need

The church gave away a turkey, canned goods, gravy, and stuffing, along with other assorted goods packed into bags.

FORT VALLEY, Ga. — Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and one church in Fort Valley is taking action to make sure that everyone has a thanksgiving meal on their table this year.

Saint Peter AME Church  loaded up bags of non perishable food on Saturday morning as part of their thanksgiving giveaway.

Their goal was to provide 50 families in the fort Valley community with food, and the event started at 11 a.m.

A turkey, canned goods, gravy, stuffing, and more were all part of the assorted goods they gave away.

In a statement, the church said that the goal of the giveaway was to "continue ministry by giving back to the community and providing families with food for Thanksgiving."

The church wants to keep expanding the giveaway, and hopes to be able to feed a higher number of families next year.
