A semi-truck flipped over on Highway 49 North in the area of Kewanee Drive on Saturday.
The truck was carrying around 8,000 gallons of ethanol, according to Supervisor Shaw with the Peach County 911 Center.
The truck swerved to avoid a vehicle making a turn, causing it to tip over, according to Peach County EMA director Thomas Doles.
Of the estimated 8,000 gallons of fuel being transported, Doles said only about ten gallons leaked out.
The Department of Natural Resources Environmental Protection Division was on scene, but Doles says there shouldn't be any environmental damage.
"They have their own environmental cleanup crew here monitoring, but with only thee small amount of product that was spilled, there will be no environment hazards," Doles said.
Due to the crash, both lanes of Highway 49 between Whispering Circle and Etowah Drive were closed from about 11:30 to 4:00 this afternoon. However, no one was injured.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
