Skydog celebration to remember the life of Duane Allman being held on Sunday

From noon to 5, people can enjoy live music at the Skydog celebration over at Carolyn Crayton Park.

MACON, Ga. — On Sunday, Macon will also celebrate the life of one of the original members of the Allman Brothers Band... Duane Allman.

He died in a motorcycle crash in 1971.

From noon to 5, people can enjoy live music at the Skydog celebration over at Carolyn Crayton Park, formerly known as Central City Park.

The festival started 17 years ago in what would have been Duane's 60th birthday.

The event is named after Duane's nickname - Skydog.

Sunday you can hear music he inspired and even played.

The event is free, but organizers ask those who attend to bring personal hygiene items for those at the daybreak center.

"Just enjoy five hours of music & you're supporting a great cause. Daybreak is a wonderful thing, if Duane Allman were still alive he'd very much approve," said John Tinker.

Organizers says hygiene products the center needs include spray deodorant, body wash, socks, razors, paper towels, and laundry detergent.
