Bibb County commissioners approved an interim budget Thursday with an option that includes no millage rate increase and major cuts to outside agencies. Public libraries are part of those cuts.
The Middle Georgia Regional Library made a post to their Facebook stating that the interim budget for Macon-Bibb includes the elimination of library funding.
Effective Monday July 2nd, the Riverside, Shurling, and Lanford Branches will close indefinitely. Washington Memorial Library will remain open until all reserves are depleted.
They even put signs on the door asking that people contact Macon-Bibb Commissioners and ask them to restore library funding.
