Two teens arrested after eight-mile chase in stolen car in Monroe County

The car was a gold Honda Civic with an Indiana license plate.

MONROE COUNTY, Ga. — The Monroe County Sheriff's Department arrested a man after an eight mile car chase in a stolen car on Tuesday, according to an alert in their app.

They say around 8:30 p.m. deputies were alerted through the FLOCK camera system that a stolen car was in the Johnsonville Road and I-75 area.

The car was a gold Honda Civic with an Indiana license plate.

A deputy found the car parked in a parking lot next to the I-75 exit.

The deputy attempted to block the car and prevent a chase but the driver was able to drive around the deputy's car and moved towards I-75 southbound.

The driver led deputies on an eight mile chase. The drive crashed into another car before the deputy performed a PIT maneuver to stop the car.

Two suspects ran from the crash but were soon arrested.

The pair were identified as 18-year-old Ethan Whaley and 19-year-old Tony Bridges of Indiana.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office is working with law enforcement in Indiana where Whaley and Bridges are suspects in a string of car thefts.

Whaley is currently charged with Fleeing and Attempting to Elude, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Obstruction of Law Enforcement, and numerous traffic violations.

Bridges is currently charged with Obstruction of Law Enforcement.

The incident is still under investigation and other charges may follow.
