Warner Robins Independence Day Celebration in need of volunteers

The Warner Robins Independence Day Celebration is in just a couple of weeks, but they're in need of some more volunteers.

At the Warner Robins Independence Day Celebration, there is sure to be great music.

"We have wonderful talent, Rebecca Howell from 'The Voice' will come out, followed by Better than Ezra, which is a great group," Marsha Buzzell, executive director of the Warner Robins Visitors Center said.

Not only can you expect a great concert, but a fantastic fireworks show, and more.

"It’s a great time to come out and celebrate our freedom and the great American way," Buzzell said.

"You know, hot dogs and hamburgers, there will be activities for the kids," Buzzell continued, just to name a few of the things that come with this summertime event.

It takes an army to run the show, and event coordinators are recruiting for it.

"We are looking for volunteers to help us pull this thing off because it takes a lot of volunteers," Buzzell said.

Although hundreds of volunteers along with Warner Robins police and fire departments will be there, about 50 more volunteers are needed.

Volunteers must be 18 or older, and fill out an application and background check consent form by no later than June 27th.

Jim and Cherly Taylor have volunteered every year. They say that's a deadline you don't want to miss.

"We get to meet some really, really neat people, and it’s a way to give back to the community," Taylor said.

The Taylors say every year is different, but it's always a good time.

"Some people say, 'Well, I just don’t really do that kind of stuff.' Well, do it! You never know -- I mean, it doesn’t cost you anything. Plus, you get in, get great seats, a free T-shirt."

The volunteer packet and background check consent form can be found here:

The background check consent form must be completed by hand and notarized.

This can be done across the street from the visitors center on Armed Forces Boulevard at the Law Enforcement Center.

Orientation for volunteers will be held on July 2nd. Location and time will be announced in the coming weeks.
