Washington County man dies in house fire

The only person living at the home was found dead

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ga. — A 70-year-old man died Friday in a house fire on Smith Robinson Road.

According to a news release from Sheriff Thomas Smith, deputies responded to a house fire with a fatality on Friday, June 14.

The victim was identified as the house’s single occupant, 70-year-old Ruland Creel.

The cause of the fire hasn’t been determined yet, but the sheriff’s office does not expect foul play to be involved.

Sheriff Smith asks people to pray for the Creel family.
