Weekly I-16 / I-75 Interchange Update (9/4/18)

GDOT is warning drivers about lane closures at night on I-75N and I-75S near the Walnut Street bridge

Construction on the interchange may have been put on pause over the holiday weekend, but starting Tuesdays crews will begin heavy work.

Scott Higley with GDOT says I-75N and I-75S will see lane closures all week long at night under the Walnut Street Bridge as crews continue demolition work.

Crews will also be setting beams for the Riverside Drive bridge, which will cause delays at night.

Throughout the project, crews are continuing work on barrier walls and various other bridges like the one going over the Ocmulgee River at the I-75 / I-16 split.

Traveling onto I-16, crews are working on the bridge off Exit 1, near Spring Street.

Barrier walls are still being worked on near the bridge and also on Martin Luther King Boulevard.

Staying on MLK, crews are working on the bridge going over the Ocmulgee River.

Off of Exit 2 on I-16, crews plan to have a portion of MLK closed in both directions overnight to do utility work.

In the Pleasant Hill community, contractors are still wrapping up work and the two parks in the community will be handed over to Bibb County by the end of October.
