UPDATE: 2 hospitalized after wreck shuts down I-75N in Perry

Two people were injured after colliding with a semi-truck on I-75N.

PERRY, Ga. — UPDATE, 10 p.m.:

According to the Georgia State Patrol, just before 5 p.m. Thursday, a car and a semi-truck were traveling north on Interstate 75 near mile marker 137. The driver of the car lost control, crossing all 3 lanes before hitting the rear trailer of the semi-truck. 

There were two people in the car, and only the driver in the semi. 

The driver of the car, 25-year-old Miles Troxell, was taken to the Perry hospital for treatment of minor cuts. The passenger, 60-year-old Kenneth Troxell, was trapped inside of the car and had to be extricated by the fire department. Kenneth Troxell was flown by Life Flight to the Medical Center, Navicent Health in Macon. There is no word on his condition.

The driver of the semi-truck, 66-year-old Stanley Cerny from South Carolina, was not hurt.

A bad wreck in Perry has closed all lanes of Interstate 75N.

It happened near Sam Nunn Boulevard -- that’s exit 135. The state Department of Transportation says it may take an hour or more to clear the scene. The current estimated time is 7 p.m.

Witnesses told us that the southbound traffic is also slow.

So, if you're headed north on I-75 near Perry, you should drive carefully and avoid the area if possible.
