Pepper Baker joined the 13WMAZ team in June 2018 as a Multi-Skilled Journalist.
She graduated from the University of Massachusetts Boston with a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of Science in Journalism from Columbia University in New York City.
While at UMass Boston, Pepper devoted four years to playing volleyball on the highly competitive, division III program. She led her team to three conference championships and one appearance to the national tournament.
Pepper began her journalism journey in college where she worked for UMass Boston’s Sports Information Department as a live-game announcer and event reporter. In the summer of 2016, she interned with Boston’s WHDH Channel 7 News as a sports intern where she aided field reporters covering Red Sox games and the Patriot’s summer camp training.
In New York City, Pepper reported and anchored for the student run show Columbia News Now and covered local stories that ranged from subway station shutdowns to a state senator’s push for changing education policies.
Pepper is new to Macon but was born and raised in Tallahassee, Florida. After spending five years in the North, she is quite happy to be back in the South! In her spare time, she loves going to the beach, listening to live music, eating at new restaurants, and absolutely lives for brunch.
