Yvonne Thomas joined the 13WMAZ team as a Multi-Skilled Journalist in June 2016.

She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication.

During her time at Samford University, Yvonne was active in the student-run broadcast, The Samford News Network. She completed roles as an anchor, live reporter, producer, camera operator, teleprompter operator, and audio technician.

Yvonne held several internships and fellowships in college. She interned twice with WTVF NewsChannel 5 in Nashville, Tennessee. She also interned with WBRC Fox 6 in Birmingham, Alabama. Yvonne completed diversity fellowships with the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) and WRAL in Raleigh, North Carolina.

As a Nashville native, Yvonne enjoys listening to music -90’s R&B is her favorite genre. She loves cooking delicious southern food, shopping for the latest fashion trends and knitting.

Yvonne also loves meeting new people. So, if you see her out and about, don’t hesitate to say, “Hello!”
