The Mercer Bears dropped the second game of the series to Furman 12-9, but used a RJ Yeager walk-off homer in the 9th to salvage the series with a 3-2 win.
The Bears climbed into a hole in the first contest of the doubleheader as Chase Burks gave up a 3 run homer in the first inning. He then tossed 5 shutout innings, and recorded 10 strikeouts, but the Paladins scored four more runs in the 7th to take a 7-2 lead.
The Bears would rally in the 9th but fall short losing 7-6.
In the 2nd game, Furman scored 2 runs in the first, and the Bears responded scoring a run in the first two frames to tie it up. The Bears and Paladin stayed put at 2 runs each, until the 9th win RJ Yeager belted a walkoff solo shot to give Mercer the 3-2 win.
Up next for the Bears is a midweek contest with Georgia Tech on Tuesday at OrthoGeorgia Park.
