The Mercer Women's basketball team took down the Bulldogs in a convincing 61-47 win improving to 8-5 on the season. The Bears closed out December with a 5-1 record.
Mercer and UNC Asheville stayed close in the first quarter, but in the 2nd period, the Bears stepped up their defense holding the Bulldogs to just 4 points.
Mercer relied heavily on KeKe Calloway who scored 22 points, and Amanda Thompson who recorded her 3rd straight double-double posting 10 rebounds and 20 points.
The Bears will play two more non conference games starting with Jacksonville on Wednesday on the road, and then a home game with Columbia on Sunday Jan. 6th.
