The Mercer Bears football team participated in the Southern Conference Media Day in Spartanburg, South Carolina and fielded questions about the upcoming season, but the league also released the SoCon preseason poll.

The Bears were picked to finish 5th in the coaches poll and 4th in the media poll which ties the highest spots for Mercer since they joined the conference in 2014.

The Bears  also had 7 players voted into the preseason-All Southern Conference teams.

Starting with the first team offense, you have red-shirt senior offensive lineman Austin Sanders, and junior running back Tyray Devezin who had a breakout season last year rushing for 926 yards and 8 touchdowns and eclipsed 100 rushing yards four times.

The other four players who made the All-SoCon preseason 2nd team include senior tight end Chris Ellington... And then on defense you have defensive lineman Dorian Kithcart, red shirt senior linebacker from Washington County Will Coneway, and red shirt junior defensive back Malique Fleming.
