Mercer head coach Bob Hoffman and six of his seniors are scheduled to return to Georgia after their big West Coast trip.

The team won an ESPY for their NCAA tournament win over Duke.

ESPN's online voters ranked that game as the best upset in the country for 2014.

Head Coach Bob Hoffman chatted with us and says the whole experience with ESPN was special.

"It was a tremendous evening for our program and our team and the University," Hoffman said. "My wife had a huge reaction, our guys were excited, so I just think it was a culmination of waiting several months and seeing if you could win you knew you were up for it. It was a lot different than playing a game for sure but it was a lot of fun to get that award because you never know if you'll get the chance to get that ever again."

Hoffman says he runs into folks from all over who have associated Macon with the big NCAA win. That could pay off down the road in recruiting.

"Well I think we will see that as we move forward, Hoffman said. I do think we've been able to get in some doors that we weren't able to before. But we have signed all of your guys for the year so I think that's the thing that you won't be able to see until the coming years."

We reached out to Mercer and will let you know if they plan any campus activities to celebrate the ESPY win.
