Frankly Speaking: Snitker keeps winning

Goes to show you nice guys don't always finish last.

In the midst of an otherwise rough weekend, given a Bulldog beatdown -- another bad loss for Georgia Tech and the Falcons losing a kicker while barely beating the Bucs, came a nugget of good news -- the Braves signed manager Brian Snitker to a new two-year contract with a club option for 2021.

And while some held out hope the Braves would pursue a bigger name -- not really sure who that might be -- I'm thrilled with the move.

Here's a guy who's given more than 40 years of his life to the Atlanta organization, most of those years in minor league cities riding buses from town to town.

Heck, I was still covering sports when Snitker managed the Macon Braves back in the early 90s, and while his paycheck has changed, much for the better, the man has not.

Still the same smile, the same calm demeanor, the same polite way of dealing with people.

The players like him, and more importantly, respect the job he's doing.

So here's to you Snit -- a Division Championship under your belt and possibly a Manager of the Year Award on your mantle.

Goes to show you nice guys don't always finish last.
