Macon Mayhem collect over 2,500 teddy bears for Macon's children's hospital

It was an eventful Saturday night at the Macon Centreplex when the Macon Mayhem took down Pensacola 5-1

The Macon Mayhem wanted to make sure they scored at least once Saturday night, because on their first goal, fans could toss teddy bears onto the ice.

At 12:05 in the game against the Pensacola Ice Flyers, Michael Chemello scored the first goal off a John Siemer assist.

Showers of teddy bears rained down onto the ice.

The Mayhem collected around 2,519 teddy bears of all shapes and sizes to be donated to the Beverly Knight Olson Children's Hospital in Macon.

And the Mayhem didn't stop at just one goal.

Just 39 seconds later, the Mayhem got on the board again, and this time Jimmy Soper rifled home a shot after an offensive zone face-off to give Mayhem a 2-0 lead.

The Mayhem didn't slow down and scored three more times.

Next Friday, the Mayhem will play the Ice Flyers again on Teacher Appreciation Night.
