MACON, GA- The Macon Mayhem and Director of Hockey Operations Kevin Kerr announced today the signing of goaltender Troy Passingham – the first goaltender signed for the 2017-2018 season.
“We’re excited to have Troy back on our team for next season,” said Kerr. “Although he played behind Jordan Ruby last season, Troy is a very solid goaltender who we believe can step up this year and carry the load as the starter.”
The 6-5, 215-pound Passingham served as the Mayhem’s backup goaltender for the majority of his time in Macon last season, as he played in just 15 games. The Mississauga, Ontario native was signed by the team on November 29, 2016 after Garrett Bartus was loaned to the Fort Wayne Komets of the ECHL. Bartus ended up staying in Fort Wayne for the rest of the season, and Passingham stuck in Macon throughout the rest of the year.
In his 15 games, the 26-year-old started 13, going 8-3-2 with a 2.68 goals against average (GAA) and a .917 save percentage (SV%). Prior to coming to Macon, Passingham played with the Danville Dashers of the Federal Hockey League (FHL), going 6-1-1 with a 2.30 GAA and a .935 SV%.
