Before the series finale started on Saturday afternoon, the Bears honored the 12 seniors who will graduate from the program. This class has accomplished a lot during their time with Mercer, including four 35 plus win season, three regular season SoCon Championships, and one tournament championship.

But the Citadel prevented the seniors from leaving OrthoGeorgia Park one last time with a win.

The Citadel grabbed the lead in the 2nd inning, and then added to it in the fourth scoring 3 more runs to take a 4-0 lead.

Alex Crotty had a big day at the plate and was responsible for all 5 runs the Bears scored. Crotty hit a solo homerun in the 5th, and then cranked a grand slam in the 6th to tie the game at 5. But the Bulldogs would retake the lead and hang on to win 7-5. Mercer ended the season 35-20 and 11-13 in conference play.

The Bears now shift their focus to the Southern Conference Tournament as the 5th seed, and will open tournament play on Wednesday against No. 5 VMI.
