Peach County's Demarcus Robinson to play in Super Bowl LIV

Demarcus dominated during his career on 13WMAZ's Football Friday Night and in college. His mom is hoping for the same results in Miami.

PEACH COUNTY, Ga. — Former Peach County High School standout Demarcus Robinson is looking to shine bright on the gridiron when the Kansas City Chiefs take on the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV.

His journey to the big leagues started at a young age and he continued to succeed beyond high school.

When you walk down the hall of the Peach County field house, you may notice football is kind of a tradition.

"A lot of good players have come through this program," said Peach County football coach Chad Campbell.

If you look closer, you can see the Robinson family is a big part of that Trojan legacy.

"My whole family is centered around it," says Demarcus' mother Alexis Robinson. "At a young age, the kids are out throwing footballs in my mom's yard. My mom lives on a farm, so that's just what we do."

Alexis Robinson's brother Marcus, was a 9-year NFL wide receiver who passed down the skills and genes to his nephew Demarcus.

"He just got started at a young age and he would throw it himself. My mom would say how is he playing catch with himself and he'd be out there throwing it as high as he could go and he'd run and catch it before it hit the ground.

Demarcus continued his gridiron success at the University of Florida before being drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2016. Now, the talented receiver known as "Bud" is playing in the biggest game of his life.

A state championship his freshman year, Demarcus dominated during his career on 13WMAZ's Football Friday Night. He did the same in the Swamp. His mom is hoping for similar results this weekend in Miami, but she knows it won't be easy and coach agrees.

"It's not gonna be a pushover game -- nobody is gonna out do anybody," says Robinson. "I told him, 'You're gonna have to work for it.'"

Coach Campbell says the Super Bowl is an opportunity for Robinson to be one of Peach County's first.  "I mean, Greg Lloyd got a chance to play for it but didn't get a chance to win. He's got an opportunity to be the first."
