Peach County's Justin Harris returns to football after injury

Since that day he broke his leg, Justin went to work harder than he's ever worked before with rehab to get bigger, faster, and stronger than before his injury.

Justin Harris was coming off a promising freshman season with the Peach Country Trojans football team. In the summer of 2017, he was expecting even bigger results on the gridiron for his sophomore year until he was bitten by the injury bug.

Harris explains, “It was July 23rd, one of the saddest days of my life. I remember the play like it was yesterday. I was running a slant backside and I caught the ball and the next thing you know, the DB made a tackle and landed on my ankle and it popped."

Since that day he broke his leg, Justin went to work harder than he’s ever worked before with rehab to get bigger, faster, and stronger than before his injury.

Justin’s athletic trainer, Tripp Youngblood, agrees, “He put in so much time and effort. I mean, we were doing 90 minutes per weight session and he puts in the extra work during practice -- it was 5 days a week and two times a day, the kid got so much work ethic trying to get back on the field.”

After months of rehab, Justin stepped back into the world of competition begrudgingly with track and field and was very impressive according to his head football coach, Chad Campbell.

“He’s a great young man and I think that carries over to some of the things that have allowed him to get back where he’s at,” says Campbell. “He loves the game of football and has a high football IQ.”

And playing football is something Justin says he’ll never take for granted again.

“Play like it’s no tomorrow,” says Harris. “'Cause I don’t want the same thing to happen to me can happen to anybody and you have to put effort I go everything you do.”

Campbell says Harris will see immediate playing time as a wide receiver or defensive back.
