A Monday morning accident that blocked all lanes on I-16 eastbound in Twiggs County has been cleared.
Twiggs County Sheriff Darren Mitchum says the crash happened around 6:30 a.m. on the area of the interstate just before the Georgia 95 interchange, by mile marker 24.
Mitchum says there were 5 vehicles involved -- three semi trucks, a tar truck, and another vehicle.
The initial tweet from GDOT says the road was expected to clear around 8 a.m., but Mitchum said around noon that the interstate has reopened several hours earlier than expected.
